Financed research
The Institute proposes himself as research Body to prepare and perform research projects pointed out by the industry or agreed with italian and foreign public or private Bodies as well as subjects chosen by the Institute himself. The most important research sectors covered are: education and training, qualification and certification of welding personnel, materials, welding processes, non destructive testing, health, safety and environment in welding.
Experimental research
The Institute takes advantage of the essential contribution of its laboratory to carry out an advanced research activity that covers all the most important and special welding processes making use of its own equipment as:
- Submerged arc welding with computerized control of power wave form
- MIG/MAG “Cold Metal Transfer”
- Laser CO2 (6 kW)
- Friction Stir Welding (6 t load on the tool)
- Hipro-TIG (1000 A)
- Plasma Transferred Arc (Key-Hole modality or melt-in with powders)
- 6 axes robot (6 kg wrist load carrying)
