Great success of the conference held by IIS in Milan on February the 18th.
Over 140 participants were recorded at the conference organized in Milan on 18 February by the Italian Institute of Welding on maintenance in the railway sector. The event got the participation of the most important institutions of the sector, as well as the main trade associations in the world of maintenance of railway vehicles.
The morning, coordinated by Ing. Previati of ASSIFER, was mainly devoted to regulatory and legislative aspects. Eng. Pio Guido, representing the European Railway Agency (ERA) has provided an exhaustive and complete picture of the ERA activities, in particular on key strategies that will guide in the near future the Agency itself in the definition of the relevant guidelines and standards throughout the sector. Following Eng. Legittimo Benedetto, of the Ministry of Transport, has represented with great clarity the main aspects of national legislation on certification of the Entities in charge for Maintenance for freight wagons. The morning session came to an end with the intervention of engineer. Rocco Cammarata, of the National Safety Authority (ANSF), who presented the voluntary guideline, developed by ANSF, to extend the certification of Entities in charge for Maintenance also to vehicles other than freight wagons. The three aforementioned presentations accounted undoubtedly very significant opportunity for all participants who have had the possibility to share with the institutions doubts and questions on the relevant legislative framework.
The afternoon, coordinated by Ing. Morisi, of CIFI, was dedicated to technical presentations by the ASSOFER Associations, with Ing. Ercoli and A.I.MAN with Ing. Sasso and Lucchini RS Company with Mr. Patelli and Eng. Chiudinelli. These presentations have deepened specialized topics on maintenance activities and reported interesting statistical data on the sector, not only nationally but also internationally. The day then ended with an intense and stimulating roundtable that allowed all participants to deepen the topics of greatest interest.
The Italian Institute of Welding, true to its institutional responsibilities, will continue in the near future to propose new and interesting initiatives in the railway sector, starting from next April in Turin when the IIS Group will be present at EXPO Ferroviaria. All those interested will be able to have at its disposal experts and receive all the information on the services offered by the IIS Group.
